Most of the time things like height of a bench is exact, but due to the nature of wood and how its purchased. Length measurements are usually within a half inch of said length. So if you got something at 48 it might come in at 47 3/4ths. This is to reduce cost to the buyer. To get something at exactly 48, materials would have to be purchased over that amount and then cut down, leaving a lot of scrap and extra cost on the piece.

5 stars for customer service, 3.5 stars for quality. I ordered two benches from Joel and the one with glued wood was failing at one of the seams and another had a weak joint. Joel was super accomodating and made me a new top in a slat style like the other bench we purchased when I requested that instead of a repair. He has been super communicative since I initially reached out to him prior to my purchase. The benches assemble very easily (legs just screw on). I wouldn't consider these anything close to heirloom furniture but they are functional and the customer service is excellent.
